Prayer of Consecration

On the Occasion of the U.S. Bishops Consecrating the United States of America to the Sacred Heart of Jesus:

To honor this momentous occasion, and to enable the participation of the faithful, the USCCB has published the following prayer, to be said by Catholics across the country on the day of the consecration:

O Most Sacred Heart of Jesus:
You know the longings of our hearts, and You desire that we enjoy friendship with You.
From Your pierced side, You have poured out the wellspring of life, for which we thirst.
Your Heart burns with a love for all people to return to a right relationship with You.
We celebrate the abundant gifts You have given this nation, founded on the
self-evident truths that our Creator has endowed all people
with the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
We make reparation for the offenses against You and against human
dignity that have taken place in this nation.
May our hearts be united to Yours, so that our families and
communities enjoy peace and happiness;
may broken relationships be reconciled, injustices repaired, and
the wounds of our land be healed.
May Your holy Catholic Church serve as a sign, pointing all people to Your infinite love.
O Desire of Nations and Center of History,
we ask You to bless these United States of America.
Who live and reign with God the Father in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God, for ever and ever.
Amen.

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us!
Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us!

The Efficacious Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus
Given to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque

To be prayed June 3-11, 2026

St. Margaret Mary Alacoque Sacred Heart

In celebration and honor of the USCCB’s Historic Nationwide Novena (June 3-11) and Consecration of the United States to the Sacred Heart of Jesus (June 12) being promulgated by our Bishops, we present to you the Efficacious Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, attributed to Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque:

This novena prayer is attributed to St. Margaret Mary Alocoque who widely promoted devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Saint Padre Pio recited this novena daily for all those who requested his prayers.

The following prayers are to be recited DAILY for 9 consecutive days with the Act of Reparation to be added on the 9th and final day of the novena.

O my Jesus, You have said: “Truly I say to you, ask and you will
receive, seek and you will find, knock and it will be opened
to you.” Behold I knock, I seek and ask for the grace of
(name your request here).
Our Father . . . Hail Mary . . . Glory Be . . .
Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in you.

O my Jesus, You have said: “Truly I say to you, if you ask
anything of the Father in my name, He will give it to you.”
Behold, in Your name, I ask the Father for the grace of
(name your request here).
Our Father . . . Hail Mary . . . Glory Be . . .
Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in you.

O my Jesus, You have said: “Truly I say to you, heaven and earth
will pass away but my words will not pass away.”
Encouraged by Your infallible words I now ask for the grace of
(name your request here).
Our Father . . . Hail Mary . . . Glory Be . . .
Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in you.

O Sacred Heart of Jesus, for whom it is impossible not to have compassion on the afflicted,
have pity on us miserable sinners and grant us the grace which we ask of You,
through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary,
Your tender Mother and ours.
Hail Holy Queen . . .
St. Joseph, foster father of Jesus, pray for us.
Amen.

Act of Reparation to the Sacred Heart

(TO BE SAID ONLY ON THE FINAL DAY OF THE NOVENA)

Most Loving Jesus, when I consider Your tender Heart and
see it full of mercy and tenderness toward sinners,
my own heart is filled with joy and confidence
that I shall be so kindly welcomed by You.
Unfortunately, how many times have I sinned!
But now, with Peter and with Magdalene,
I weep for my sins and detest them
because they offend You, infinite Goodness.
Mercifully grant me pardon for them all;
and let me die rather than offend You again;
at least let me live only to love You in return.
Amen.

Remember: Prayer Has Always Changed the Course of History

As we face today’s grave challenges, let us draw courage from two powerful moments in Church history when prayer, and the courage of the faithful, changed everything. We have this opportunity again to impact History.

Pope St. Pius V and the Battle of Lepanto — 1571

In the sixteenth century, a massive Ottoman Turkish naval fleet was advancing across the Mediterranean with the aim of conquering Christian Europe. The odds were overwhelmingly against the Christian forces. Rather than relying on military might alone, Pope St. Pius V — a devoted Dominican and man of deep prayer — issued an urgent call to Catholics throughout Europe to pray the Rosary. Processions filled the streets. Monasteries kept vigils through the night. Sailors received rosaries before battle. The fleet's commander, Don Juan of Austria, led his men in prayer even as the enemy bore down on them.

On October 7, 1571, the Christian fleet won an astounding and unexpected victory. The Ottoman forces suffered devastating losses. Pope St. Pius V, kneeling in prayer far away in Rome, is said to have received a supernatural vision of the victory at the very moment it occurred. He immediately credited the triumph not to military strategy, but to the intercession of Our Lady through the Rosary. October 7th has been celebrated ever since as the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary — a permanent memorial to what happens when God's people pray.

St. Catherine of Siena and the Return of the Pope to Rome — 1377

For nearly 70 years, the papacy had been displaced from Rome, residing instead in Avignon, France. The absence of the pope from the Eternal City caused scandal, confusion, and deep spiritual harm throughout the Church. Many believed the situation was simply too entrenched to change.

Enter Catherine of Siena — a young, uneducated laywoman and Dominican tertiary from a humble family. What she lacked in status, she made up for in prayer, penance, and an extraordinary intimacy with God. Through a combination of fearless correspondence, personal pleading, and above all sustained intercession before God, Catherine succeeded in convincing Pope Gregory XI to leave Avignon and return the papacy to Rome in January 1377. It was a turning point that reshaped the entire trajectory of the Western Church, and  it was accomplished largely by a young woman on her knees.

If St. Catherine's prayers could move a pope and heal a fractured Church — if a Rosary in the hands of untold numbers of faithful Catholics could alter the fate of nations — this brings hope that our prayers, offered humbly and persistently before the Sacred Heart of Jesus, can still accomplish miracles, even today!

"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land." — 2 Chronicles 7:14
